Questions about truth and Christianity

TD1-Your Pastor

TD1

Today, more so than at any point in history, discernment is mandatory. If you are a “follower” of Christ, seek to become more like Jesus and church is a major part of “Christian makeup”, you may want to consider a few things about your pastor.

Why? Well…whether you are actually a believer of the Bible and it’s prophetic timeline, you yourself have a timeline and you’re going to get to the end of it one way or another. So, if your pastor plays a major role in your development, belief in truth and your pursuit of eternity….which you will one day discover….you may want to take a closer look at your pastor and what comes out of that person. Keep in mind….”shit” can come out of the mouth as well!

There are several things you should ask yourself about your pastor but I will start with what should be first and foremost….do you see an unwavering desire to be more like Jesus? And you may be one of many that don’t truly know how Jesus really was as a man because….you nor I, were there! So, all we really have to rely on is what’s in the Bible….well…and your faith as well of course.

There’s a lot about Jesus that we more than likely don’t know. But the main thing that we do know, based on how Jesus lived his life, Jesus was 100% genuine and he LOVED. But there is another attribute of Jesus that is just as important as any other aside from being divine….and that is….Jesus was HUMBLE.

Humility is a great place to start when considering your pastor’s attributes. If you do not humble yourself before the Lord, you certainly aren’t going to humble yourself before your congregation. As I grow older, collect more life experiences and continue to observe others, I’m beginning to wonder if humility is on the brink of extinction. Without it, I’m not sure you can truly have other attributes that are needed to effectively pastor a church. Which leads me to another question that I intend to write about very soon….and that’s “your” church. Is it a church, or, is it a business?

Because I could go on until the end of time (which you also may want to research) but, I’m going to get a little off track and hard to follow….per usual 😉  But, does your pastor lead like Jesus, act like Jesus and attempt to love like Jesus? Is Sunday morning the only time you see your pastor? Is your pastor approachable? Does your pastor lead the church authoritatively from the pulpit? Is your pastor removed from the congregation and would your pastor even recognize you outside of the church? Does your pastor pour themselves into you and your spiritual growth….or does your pastor seemingly appeal to the masses in an attempt to grow the physical church? Does your pastor seek to see through the eyes of Jesus and see you, love you and help you the way that Jesus led his followers?

Also, out of order and randomly….what do you get from your pastor? Do you get a weekly dose of validation and “feel good”? If your pastor  seems to validate your way of thinking, acting and speaking…..you also may want to take a look at what it is about you that feels validated. Because, I know without a doubt…..there are those pastors that seemingly turn out total “assholes” from their factory.

At some point you have to ask yourself, is your church Jesus’ church….or is it your pastors church/business?

The Bible is clear about what happens to and in the church in the later days. Has your church been hijacked by someone with their own intentions and self interest at the forefront? Self interest infiltrated the church long ago and it’s nothing new, however today, it has no limitations as the masses continue to be deceived and give way for one’s own gain.

If you see an absence of Jesus in your pastor, it very well may be because your pastor isn’t seeking a life like Christ. When an avenue opens, paved in money and power, a lot of folks veer off course. And that folks, is why you should always use discernment. “Truth” feels good, folks. But, it’s increasingly hard to find because of the deceitful nature of man.

Next up….YOU…..the individual “Christian”. Your truth will expire if it’s not true!
