Questions about truth and Christianity

TD2-You

Sometimes I find it interesting (for lack of better terminology) to consider all the components that make us who we are….the unique individual that no one else can be. To many, you may just see yourself and others as just a number. But if you view it that way, consider this: currently there’s more than 2 trillion known galaxies. Those galaxies are just numbers too. But as known by most it may be fair to say, there’s a hell of a lot that makes up a galaxy!

Speaking of the unique individual, here’s an age old question….who are you? But also, what are you….and why? For a long period of time, folks have found identity in their religion and spiritual beliefs. In my neck of the woods, it’d be  commonplace to find the “good Christian” folk.

Who we are seems complicated to unfold these days, and I’ll come back to that but, who we are for some reason seems to hinge on what we are. So, let’s start with the “what.” Lots of folks in this area proudly proclaim to be Christian. And in some way, I guess that’s good, otherwise who the hell would know?! Interestingly enough, as I’ve observed usually the loudest, most expressive and authoritative folks are also narcopathic assholes.

Is your verbal expression of faith and public proclamation what makes you a Christian? Is it your church attendance and participation in church functions? Is it the role you play in church ministries and involvement in church related activities? Is it because you always carry your Bible for others to see? Is it because you know the church hymns by heart and can quote scripture? Are you always seeking attention?

Have you heard the stories about folks who create fake degrees and get really high paying jobs? If you do that you may fool the common folk for quite a while and even find success. But at some point your bound to cross paths with folks who earned the degree and “mastered” the craft….and soon, you might find yourself under the spotlight. But, say you do fake it till you make it….what then? You think you’ll fool God?

One might wonder, will the exoskeleton of “your” Christianity fall off when you step into the presence of Christ. God may not be so impressed with your accolades and “Christian resume. And everything you’ve accumulated throughout life…..God’s not sending movers to go get your shit!

What’ve you done out of love for God over the course of your life? What did you do to expand the kingdom of Heaven? Do you love others like Jesus? Do you seek to please Jesus and try to see through his eyes? Is serving others before yourself foreign to you? And most important….do you believe that through Jesus is the only way to eternal life?

And finally, here’s why. God is the beginning and the end. Whether it began with a bang, a breath or a sudden appearance, most likely, it was the result of God’s intentions.…such as to love you. But, he gave us all a choice. It’s yours to accept or deny.

I’d imagine that God knows your heart, what you seek and why. If your comfortable, consider why and, if you think Jesus would truly be happy about who you….keep going! Though it’s doubtful we’ll achieve that level of truthful, humble love….its something meant to pursue throughout the entirety of your life. And always…..try and love others like Jesus did.
